Joke of the day... not Tau Henare (left) ...
"An old guy's wife tells him to go to the butcher shop and get some meat. He goes to the butcher shop and stands in line for hours. Finally the butcher says, "We're out of meat." The old guy blows his top. He yells, "I am a worker! I am a proletarian! I am a veteran of the Great Patriotic War! I have fought for socialism all my life, and now you tell me you're out of meat! What kind of a system is this?! You are fools! You are thieves! . . . " A big man in a trench coat comes up to the old guy and says, "Comrade, Comrade, not so loud. In the old days you know what they would do if you said such things." The big man in the trench coat makes a pistol motion with his hand. He says to the old guy, "Calm down and go home." The old guy shrugs and leaves. He comes back empty-handed, and his wife says, "What's the matter, are they out of meat?" "Worse than that," says the old guy, "they're out of bullets." Official government measurements show that the world’s temperature has cooled a bit since reaching its most recent peak in 1998.

That’s given global warming skeptics new ammunition to attack the prevailing theory of climate change. The skeptics argue that the current stretch of slightly cooler temperatures means that costly measures to limit carbon dioxide emissions are ill-founded and unnecessary.

Proposals to combat global warming are “crazy” and will “destroy more than a million good American jobs and increase the average family’s annual energy bill by at least $1,500 a year,” the Heartland Institute, a conservative research organization based in Chicago, declared in full-page newspaper ads earlier this summer. “High levels of carbon dioxide actually benefit wildlife and human health,” the ads asserted.

Chand, you are so right!

I cannot believe that someone from the Subcontinent can be so cool and correct about the deniers.

Most of you billions of IndoPaks are grovelling around in the mud and slime eking out some sort of daily sustenance, and simply cannot be bothered asking the very simple philosophical questions you pose so cohesively and consisely here.

It takes considerable courage to eschew the "wealth=energy" paradigm so beloved of the fascists in the US.

If you were a student of Malthusian philosophy, I guess that you would be somewhat more concerned than most of your Green compatriots.

It is with considerable embarrassment that I note that Indo/Pak students in the Antipodes seem to have the living shit beaten out of them by racist Mohammedans when they start to get the slightest bit uppity.

Chand, I think it wise for you to decry all politico-philosophical thought emanating from the Great Satan as heretical Malthusian dialectic, especially the thoughts of Al Gore.

We do not need people as hypocritical and disingenuous as Gore to be champions of our New World Order, do we now?

Do some research, and do the Right Thing.

Probably the best thing to come out of the Stalin years were the jokes.
