The Germans have a pithy word for it...

...called "schadenfreude" (apologies to German speakers for earlier mis- spelling).
Schadenfreude means taking pleasure in others misfortune; an inside out umbrella on a windy day for example, Helen Clark getting a tongue lashing at Waitangi... stop it...I am taking a lot of pleasure from the fact that James Hansen's orchestrated agitprop exercise to draw attention to global warming has met with a frosty response...
