Global warming...and other bullshit...

...It is widely thought that the polar ice caps will melt, causing sea levels to rise, resulting in the loss of cities along the coast, as well as a the majority of polar bears.
And if global warming does not kill us, then obesity or heart disease will thanks to an addiction to junk food and salt...but a new book, compiled by Stanley Feldman, a professor of anaesthetics at London University, and Vincent Marks, a former professor of clinical biochemistry and dean of medicine at the University of Surrey, are questioning the end of the world and healthy eating tips...the pair discuss Global Warming And Other Bollocks: The Truth About All Those Science Scare Stories, where they examine the "facts" behind global warming, the future of polar bears...Maldives property owners are so confident the sea is receding, they are building a number of upmarket seafront hotels. Tuvalu in the Pacific, often seen as being most at risk of flooding, has actually seen a fall in sea levels...Warmer climate and an increase in CO2 could be good for farming and agriculture. Less severe winters will also allow more crops to be grown

Tsk tsk. And everyone thought Gore was crazy when "The Inconvenient Truth" came out. Global warming is just as serious as the ice age, and more serious then AIDS! People should definitely start taking it more seriously.

When I was a kid in the 1970s it was global cooling that was going to do for us all. Then the world was going to run out of food by 2000. Then there was Y2K when it looked like the grub might last. This week it's global warming. The only thing that really might pull the plug on mankind is being buried up to our nostrils in this type of ideological guano.

You're right Butch. And Sara, 2 quotes come to mind...both from H.L.Mencken...

"The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule." and...

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."

Ayrdale, I see you said at WUWT "In Australia the bumper sticker “Greens Tell Lies” is a potent weapon" - though I'm naturally a Green myself
I've designed a whole series of climate-skeptic bumper stickers that people in the US and UK can simply upload to Zazzle and print out. Is there an equivalent firm in Oz? Do visit my bumper sticker page and email me if you know such a firm.

If you listen to all the scare-mongers and studies out there, you can eat, drink, walk, run, sleep, drive or just about anything.

Just live your life as you wish i say, pay your own way and let it be, eventually something or the other will get us. That's the one thing that's for sure.
