An apology from the NZ Herald...

...Granny Herald has been carrying columns from Sydney based pro-Muslim lawyer Irfan Yusuf. Mr Yusuf's tedious contributions argue for more tolerance towards Muslims, (and predictably display no tolerance for any counter argument or debate.) A column last month alleged that a US columnist, Mr Daniel Pipes, had stated that Europe's next Holocaust victims would be Muslim "...and they deserved such slaughter" See the litany here...
"The author, Irfan Yusuf, and the Herald accept that Mr Pipes has never predicted nor has he ever endorsed a Holocaust of European Muslims and they unreservedly apologise to him for the errors."
Very good. Presumably after this gross fabrication from Mr Irfan Yusuf his credibility as a columnist is shattered or at least very badly dented. This should preclude him from offering further columns and give Granny a good reason to show him the door. We'll see...note comments from his apologists below...thanks guys...(Nothing from Mr Yusuf as of today 26.11.08...)

the granny herald don't seem to agree with your assessment. they've already run a few articles of his since the bosnia article.

describing yusuf as pro-muslim seems a bit silly. in many of his articls, he criticises muslim leaders and countries and community leaders.

it seems to me that the real reason you aren't fond of yusuf is because he gets published and you don't. maybe if your opinions showed less bigotry, you might find your own byline in the granny herald one day.

In my humble opinion, you must be blind or stupid if you think Yusuf grossly exagerrated or even fabricated Pipes' opinions. You should go and read everything Pipes has written and said on the so-called Eurabia thesis.

Pipes did predict that a genocide of Muslims in Europe was possible, but he couldn't say whether it was more possible than European non-Muslims being outbred by European Muslims. He said the odds of genocide were 47.5%. Yusuf argued Pipes' odds for genocide were at least 50%. Yusuf is 2.5% out. Hardly a huge fabrication.

Pipes also argues that Barack Obama has been dishonest about hs religious heritage. Pipes uses his own prejudices to play divisive politics just like National tried to do under Brash and his cabal of far-Right advisers and pollsters..
