Bernard Madoff, public servant extaordinaire...

...Bernard Madoff, sentenced last week to 150 years in prison for fraud totalling $US50 billion, has to his credit performed an outstanding public servive. David Horowitz explains...few media reports have focused on the damage that Madoff did to left-leaning foundations and political causes...The record-breaking fraud is forcing the closing of the JEHT and Picower foundations, longtime supporters of leftist groups.
Left-wing groups funded by those charities include ACORN (known for its massive voter-fraud campaigns), the Center for Constitutional Rights (a pro-Castro member of the open borders lobby), and Alliance for Justice (which supports habeas corpus protections for terror suspects)and many more...

F***ing green hypocrites...

...from Doverwatch, a comment on the despicable greens and the UK elections...Locally, people are seeing the Green party as a more reasonable alternative and on the face of it they do seem to be. Unfortunately this is simply not true. The Greens are also extremists and just as racist as the BNP, but where the BNP have never tried to conceal their intent to 'repatriate' non-whites regardless of citizenship, the Greens have hidden their racist agenda, disguising it as 'ecological concerns'.The reality is the Green Party is part of the same de-industrialisation lobby as Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth. They would much rather see children starving than allow third world countries to build the infrastructure they so desperately need. Yet at the same time are perfectly happy to allow western industrial interests to exploit those countries' mineral and other resources for their own profit.Naturally when anyone questions their actions, they trot out the standard excuse used by every extremist in history - "It's for their own good"...more here...
...note also the classic Denis Dutton article "Fear mongering greens doom children to death"
...and quote of the day...Drunken sailors generally spend cash that they’ve already earned themselves, rather than running up debt to be paid by others. If our politicians started spending like drunken sailors, it would in fact represent a dramatic improvement...with thanks to Instapundit...

Every totalitarian regime needs its defining myth...

...With the green church it is the sanctity of Mother Earth and mankind's polluting influence on her ...with the Nazis, it was the “Aryan” fantasy of racial purity...Global warming is not indisputable. Thousands of highly qualified and experienced scientists question it. But the problem is that global warming is not being treated as a theory, a possibility, but as a truth of nature on a par with the law of gravity. It is the unassailable myth of the new totalitarians...Rigorous examination of hypotheses is the very basis of science. And this is what is being asked for by, among other intelligent sources, The Scientific Alliance. I quote: “The whole juggernaut of global warming is based on a framework which accepts the International Panel on Climate Change’s view of the enhanced greenhouse effect as indisputable truth. Hence the refusal to concede that any degree of scepticism or a different interpretation of evidence is legitimate. So it is even more important for critical points to be raised and debate encouraged.
Scientific understanding will benefit from this: and the better the understanding, the better any necessary response can be formulated
.” More, here...
...The kiwi response ? We are seeing the emergence of pragmatic politics when dealing with global warming hysteria. We have a government line that expresses interest and concern (and keeps AGW sceptic Rodney Hide silent, no easy task) yet does enough to soothe the panicked and the green/left agitators. A wait and see policy that is classic Sir Humphrey Appleby greenwash...very clever stuff. And time of course, and the refusal of the planet to start warming up again is diluting public interest by the day...
...and from the late Sir John Maddox ( honorary fellow of the Royal Society, author of The Doomsday Syndrome and ex editor of Nature magazine)...
"One of the distressing features of the present debate about the environment is the way in which it is supposed to be an argument between farsighted people with the interests of humanity at heart and others who care not a tuppence for the future.... This false dichotomy conceals a host of important issues." And, he continues, "The doomsday cause would be more telling if it were more securely grounded in facts, better informed by a sense of history and an awareness of economics and less cataclysmic in temper. .. Too often, reality is oversimplified or even ignored, so that there is a danger that much of this gloomy foreboding about the immediate future will accomplish the opposite of what its authors intend. Instead of alerting people to important problems, it may seriously undermine the capacity of the human race to look out for its survival. The doomsday syndrome may be in itself as much a hazard as any of the conundrums which society has created for itself." More here...and here...

Green is the new black...

...From Climate Resistance...Or is it more the case that green – being the colour of reinvention – is the colour chosen by parties who fail to make arguments for change without the drama provided to them by the idea of environmental catastrophe?...The (UK) Green Party, which began life as PEOPLE, formed by disgruntled conservatives in the 1970s, has attracted a rag-bag of misfits in search of a cause, many, if not most of them from the wreckage of the UK radical Left. Disoriented Reds and Blues alike have found refuge in the certainty offered by the prospect of the imminent collapse of the ecosphere. Note the startling logo of the Libertarian National Socialist Green party above...more here...
The way to challenge environmentalism is not to trace its origins back to Nazi Germany (though it is interesting to do so in its own right and it’s also a fun way of annoying Greens). Neither is it productive to cast environmentalism as the re-emergence of the Left. Contemporary environmentalism exists on a new axis. The values they espouse belong neither to the Left, nor Right, but Down...more, here...and for even more extreme psychotic green lunacy see The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement here...
