H L Mencken was writing in the USA in the 20's and 30's. "Lefty busybodies" were presumably busy around that time,with good reason. (The great depression etc.) What irks me today is that hard left wing thinking should take in the fact that socialism wherever it has been applied has been an economic and social disaster. Hasn't stopped the FW's though from attempting to ram it down our throats...
