Why oh why...

...does this ludicrous AGW farce continue ? Like a Terminator that won't die, or a Monty Pythonesque knight with severed arms and legs that won't yield, the malevolent AGW ghost won't depart. The science behind it has been shown to be dodgy, the statistics shonky, the main instigators are accused of self interest (think Al Gore) yet politicians such as our Minister for the Environment, Mr Nick Smith continue to defend it and the costs it will incur. Smith has announced an Emissions Trading Scheme that aims to halve our CO2 emissions by 2050. For once, I have to agree with the Alfred E. Neuman look alike Russell Norman of the Greens who says...the pledge to halve New Zealand's greenhouse gases emissions is "unambitious" and shows the Government is not serious about addressing climate change ..."If they were serious about a target they would set milestones that they could be held accountable for, not a target that is 13 electoral cycles away." Nobody is in the least concerned any more about so-called catastrophic climate change, nobody that is except the socialist greens, so why on earth even bother ? More here...

Howdy,
We are told the budget is going to require cuts to the public sector. Why not suspend the ETS for 5 years? The billion or so per annum being pissed away might be chump change to john boy but the real benefit is the staff reduction of getting rid of all but 12 public servants who have climate change in their job title or job descriptions. That includes Nick Smith (Post Hole Digger). If we added suspension of treaty settlements we might just start to get somewhere!

If they answered your question, and my post, they would say; AGW is real and dangerous, and although our contribution to it is negligible we have to be seen to do our bit... It's in that last bit where the real truth lies.
We know now that AGW is not dangerous, we (me anyway) believe it's not real. So if it's not dangerous - the panic is off - why do we still need a non-sensical ETS that in real terms commits us to nothing ? It's this oh so important sycophantic bow and scrape to someone/something/somewhere. The almighty UN perhaps ?

I continue to hope that the AGW scan is just like Monty Python's Mr Creosote. It grows fatter and fatter as people receive rich financial rewards by pandering to its greed. Then, one day, all it will take is a wafer thin mint.

FB, how very nice to read you again.
The Mr Creosote analogy is very apt. Perhaps blogs are the mint manufacturers that will do the trick.
